Curious Man Greets Europe

Part 2

Curious Man

 Greets Europe

Day 4.
Arrive in Paris, pick up car, go to petrol station and get hopelessly stuck between a van and a truck, in the wrong lane. Get to practise extreme driving extrication skills after just 10 minutes of driving on the wrong side of the road.

Then off to the Champagne District and Provins-the place that started passports back in medieval times.

***In this picture there are two "accidents waiting to happen" and one "What's wrong with this picture?"   Can you spot them?

CURIOUS MAN TIP NO. 1
The Curious Man ALWAYS makes sure to arrive at Provins at precisely 12 pm for lunch when the free 90 minute parking period begins.

Spend the night in Troyes at the Hotel Comte de Champagne, a 16th century building with wonky floors, a fireplace and comfy bed.

Day 5        It's May Day in Troyes!
Wander and wonder at suddenly being plunged into the 16th century with its half-timbered houses, magnificent stained glass churches and tulips, tulips, tulips.

Buy a lily of the valley potted plant from a poor forlorn boy standing outside in the wind and rain. Realize you’ve just saddled yourself with an extra responsibility-keeping a pot plant alive for 9 weeks.

Decide at the last minute to go to Colmar with its House of 100 Heads

..and spend the night in a charming balconied room at Chez Leslie where the cat sits on the windowsill and walks across the table.

Dine in one of Colmar’s half-timbered restaurants overlooking the canal.

*Living on the edge!!
Watch in horror as the Curious Man drops his camera instruction book into the canal, in the dark, in the pouring rain, clambers over the parapet and leans into the dark and churning waters to retrieve it.

A quick dry with Chez Leslie's hairdryer and good as new...(same goes for the book)
