Curious Man Czechs In

The Curious Man Czechs In

Day 10
Off to Prague.

Arrive in Horsovsky Tin, a beautiful village,

just over the Czech border in time for a tour of their gothic Castle,

and afterwards...
...CURIOUS MAN TIP NO. 2
If you’d like to meet as many Czechs as possible in a short time, arrive on a Sunday morning and pop over to the church during the handshaking “Peace be with you” part of the Mass. Lovely people.
Nice Wife waits patiently for hand-shaking ceremony

'Check'  into the Na  Vinohradu  in Prague and be welcomed with delicious cake by Jan.
Curious Man keeps friendly with he who makes delicious cakes

Hop on the tram for your first look at the city.
Be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tourists on the square but don’t be alarmed, they’ll be gone soon.

CURIOUS MAN TIP NO.3
*If absolutely starving, on no account order the ham and potato salad from any stall on the square. It’s sold by weight-100 grams for 69 k. but they don’t sell 100grams. Their servings are VERY HEAVY, costing about $30!!
Unless you have the Curious Man with you to hold up the queue to ‘discuss’ and ‘dispute’ the matter, you’re better off with the sausage and bread at a fixed price in the first place.

Take in a marvelous show at the Black Light Theatre, a surreal live performance loosely based on Alice in Wonderland with dazzling special effects.

The rest of the night will be directed by our Prague expert, Rasheel (she’s been in Prague 24 hours longer than you), a lovely girl from London/India.
She’ll show you the real Prague, take you across the bridge to the other side of the river,
The Curious Man prefers to go under the river

show you a beautiful park with peacocks (alas closed), advise on restaurants and tram tickets and then take you to a wonderful little hole-in -the -wall place for a late night Jazz concert.

Rasheel, if you ever stumble on this blog,..thank you very much.
***Living on the edge…
Catch the last tram back to Na Vinohradu  with just a minute to spare.

Day 11

Another day for you to humour the Curious Man  in his Art Nouveau fetish.
Off to the Municipal House-boring name, but fabulous place.
The Curious Man will be beside himself at the cornucopia of early 20th Century decorating ideas.
Curious Man is beside himself several times over

After a day of visiting museums,
Curious Man mixes it with the big boys at the Kafka Museum

inspecting the Jewish Synagogue and eating torte you’ll be glad to rest your legs at the Rudolfinium and listen to a 3 piece orchestra strut their classical music stuff.

Curious Man tip no 4
Another great place to rest your legs is at the drinks area to the right of the Kafka Museum. It’s deserted after 5pm, no sign of a waiter, but there are some VERY COMFY chairs where you can look over the river and recharge your batteries.
