Curious Man Goes to the Top

Part 8
Curious Man Goes to the Top!

Day 18
In Bologna

"L'Uomo  Curiousio e nella  Bologna!"
We’ll be starting off our day in Bologna with a bit of exercise, climbing the five hundred rickety wooden steps to the top of the medieval tower.

This tower, is the other leaning tower. It inclines almost 2.5 metres and rates a mention in the works of that popular thriller writer, Dante.

After all that exercise you might feel like an ice cream.
The nice wife recommends the ice cream BURGER/BRIOCHE at the gelateria near the tower.

Nice Wife gobbles up ice cream brioche/burger. Note Curious man's puny ice cream on the right.

You’ll love wandering round BOLOGNA. Walk along marbled footpaths under renaissance archways,

dodge buzzing motorbikes

and feast on pasta bolognaise in the city that invented it. (But don’t have it with spaghetti-it’s not permitted.)

Curious man tip no. 7
Public toilets can be difficult to find in Italy.

You can try going to the top and asking a policeman

But if that fails,

we recommend the conveniences at Bologna’s palatial council chambers.

Walk in as if you own the place and you’ll find them up these stairs..

..in this room..

and behind this door

Enjoy your last night in Bologna, exploring its many treasures and have a go at taking some "arty' shots...

Day 19
Off to Parma and beyond

Parma makes a great lunch stop and deciphering the menu at the local eatery, Enoteca Fontana, is easy with the help of friendly locals.
It’s here you’ll get the chance to try cavallo. Quite a delicate meat and goes well with red wine.

Curious Man tip number 8

Before you depart Australia, ensure you have the Italian words for “horse"  and “raw” firmly in your mind.

Following tradition, after nights of luxury, we’ll be slumming it again tonight at the Bercetto camping ground.
You’ll stay in  a romantic shack in the forest,

with your only neighbor an old man in pyjamas.

To compensate, Bercetto is a lovely village with stony curved narrow streets and houses that have been there forever.

They make a great hot chocolate there too.

Even the washing looks good in Bercetto
