Curious man causes a riot!

Part 9
Curious Man
Causes

Riot!

Day 20

Cinque Terra

Relax in your beautiful accommodation at L'Eremo sul Mare.

You deserve it. Getting to Cinque Terra won’t be easy.
Along the way you’ll be part of an “international incident" at the petrol station.
For a living on the edge experience, the Curious Man will drive off with the petrol pump still in the car.  The hose bit will detach from the nozzle bit and there’ll be the Nice Wife feebly trying to put it all back together saying, "scusi, scusi”, an attendant looking at the Curious Man's French car, shrugging her shoulders and saying, “Francaise!" and some other stuff in Italian and the attendant’s mother yelling at her daughter, “You’re from England, speak English!”
In the midst of all that, there’ll be an actual tourist from England saying “I just want to pay-where do I pay?” And more screaming from the mother.
Anyway, no harm done, there’ll be no calls from the Polizia, well so far anyway.

Then there’ll be a lot of trouble actually getting to Vernazza. Nancy Airhead doesn’t know about blocked roads and neither do Italian truck drivers. Despite insistence from both parties you’ll discover that there’s only one way to Cinque Terra- the long way…

But all will be forgotten this evening, when you kick back and savour pizza marinara on Vernazza’s charming square overlooking the harbour.

Days 21, 22

Explore Cinque Terra

This is the get fit and toughen up part of the trip. You’ll climb hundreds of steps

in a bid to explore villages,

soak up views,

Note your accommodation is further up and  beyond the tower in top left...

gawk at ruins,

pontificate over cemeteries,

dine at restaurants

and reach your accommodation.

And we’ll add in some thunderstorms for good measure. (If you’re lucky, the Curious Man will carry your luggage, so the accommodation part will be easy.)

next time,
the Curious Man gets really edgy!
