Curious Man Clocks Up Country Number Seven

Part 7
Curious Man Clocks Up Country Number Seven!

Day 15
Today after a brief but exhilarating stop in Slovenia,

we’ll arrive in Italy..
Curious Man is surprised to discover that Italy has road rules

First stop Lake Fusine
An obscure, but beautiful lake in the north east corner of Italy.

Spend the night in the Hotel Edelhof-quite an upmarket hotel in the town of Tarvisio.

Cycling enthusiasts will be excited to know that,
in just a few days, their beds will be occupied by the riders of the Giro Italia! How's that for up close and personal?

Tarvisio residents offer some decorating tips to the Giro d'Italia riders

Day 16.

Into  Italia

Today we’ll be exploring some of the lesser known parts of  Italy, starting with a stop in Marlborghetto which boasts among its residents, five beautifully preserved mummies.

Nice Wife now regrets not taking photos of mummies, but this is where they "live'

Then it’s on to Venzone-lavender capital of Italy.

You'll learn SO much about lavender here.
They have a hair oil that is good for  “double points” (split ends to you)  and a special product for your clothes to “keep the butterflies away!”

After stocking up on lavender supplies, we’ll push on to Spilimbergo, which, as you know, is world famous for its Mosaic School.

Then Nancy Airhead will take you through the mud to see the goats,

and finally at 10pm, we’ll rest our heads at the aptly named “Oasis Hotel” on the manic outskirts of Trevisio.

Curious Man tip number 4.
Be sure to check the Trevisio Junior League Rugby fixture before you arrive. They like to have big tournaments and book out all the accommodation.

Day 17
Padua to Bologna

You can relax today, knowing that you have a bed waiting for you tonight at the Pozzo di Mezzo in Bologna (more on that later).

First we’ll visit Padua, a lovely city with a grand square encircled by statues and home of the world’s first Botanic Gardens.

This is where the Curious Man will give you a lesson on close up photography:

See! All that shooting of castles paid off!

The gardens are quite fascinating but please be warned that they have an Australian Pine tree in captivity there and this may be disturbing to some visitors.

Australian Aracauria growing indoors with a hole cut into the roof so it can look out.
Finally in Bologna, Curious Man Tours will accommodate you in fine style at the Pozzo di Mezzo (but only for two nights.)

  1. Love the photos and comments. Enjoy Bologna - it is a gorgeous town/city. I was there a few years ago to launch Milo's Birthday Surprise at the Book Fair.

Luckily you are not in Prague - the floods looks horrific!
