Curious Man Hits the Edge

Part 6

Curious Man Hits the Edge

Day 13 cont..
Today you'll really experience what living on the edge is all about:

****living on the edge.
Just over the Austrian border, in a nameless little village, the Curious Man will take his eyes off the road for a moment, surprised to see...
A CASTLE!!
..will run the car into the cobblestoned EDGE and BINGO!!
flat tyre.

But not to worry. This is another ideal way to meet the locals.
First the Orthopedic Supplies man will emerge from his shop to lend his hydraulic jack, "Save your back."
Followed by assorted villagers to offer their sympathies.
Then a quick trip to the lovely town of Gmund for a brand new replacement tyre at the Citroen workshop.

And back on the road again as good as new.

Off to Vienna..
You've had some very nice accommodation so far and we don't want you to get too cocky, so in Vienna we'll be slumming it just a little bit.
Interruption from the Curious Man:
"Ooh, it wasn't too bad, well the kitchen wasn't much and the neighbourhood was a bit shabby and the entrance was covered in graffiti, but the bed was comfy."

DAY 14    AAH VIENNA

It's HIMMELFAHRT!
So free parking for all!
(That's Ascension Day for you Aussies)
Hop on the tram for a look around Vienna.

The Old and the New. St Stephen's Cathedral reflected in a building of the future.
Disco-like  interior of  Cathedral

Hop off at the Stadt Park for the Curious Man's reunion with his long lost relative –his father’s mother’s father –Josef Bruckner- maybe a distant cousin thrice removed of the famous composer Bruckner?

The likeness is startling!

Then on to the Rick Steve audio walking tour..
Audio commentaries are great and sharing headphones fine, except for when the Curious Man bends down to adjust his sandals.

Another couple on a walking tour of Vienna

Distracted from Walking tour by magnificent lolly shop

For just a few euros, finish off your time in Vienna with a concert  at the Plague monument.

Boy from Geelong on harp, accompanied by child from the Ukraine, on the paper cup

Brilliant!

Ah Vienna.....…
