Curious Man Gets to the Sharp and Pointy End

Part 20
Curious Man
Gets To The
Sharp
and
Pointy
End

Days 47-50
Time to abandon the gypsy life for the hills of the Massif Central in the Auvergne.

This area, with 450 volcanoes, contains the largest concentration of extinct volcanoes in the world!

On the way, The Curious Man will be excited to discover that we are passing through Thiers-knife capital of the world.
Along with knockers, knives are another of the Curious Man's passions, so a quick visit to the "Museum of Cutlery" will be in order.

Patience-this will be more interesting than you might think.

Dog lovers, for instance,  will be chuffed to discover that long ago,the knife sharpeners lying flat out on hard boards in the freezing cold, had dogs lying across their legs to keep them warm..

Cats would have been too unreliable

Once you've dragged the Curious Man away from the many knife shops in Thiers, you'll be off to Besse-et-Sainte- Anastaise to your comfortable chalet overlooking the hills and just 5 minutes walk to the village.
As they say in Escape to the Country, it "ticks all the boxes!"

From here you can explore the medieval village of Besse (built entirely of volcanic stone)

You can indulge in "photogenic cloud effects" photography.

and wander around in the dark, foggy night attempting "arty" shots..

Has the Curious Man improved?  Or not??
