Off to Paris
We leave Noyers and head towards Paris, but first we'll be diverted in our quest by a kind policeman who tells us to turn around because the road up ahead is blocked.
Nice Wife, Curious Man and Nancy Airhead will be somewhat disoriented.
"I wonder what the road block was?" says Nice Wife.
I didn't see any overturned trucks or baguette disasters."
There'll be a bit of tootling around in circles and then, tearing up from the rear, will be half a dozen manic motorcyclists screaming and gesticulating wildly:
"N'obtenez outre de la route! N'obtenez outre de la route!"
Nice Wife will obligingly steer the car into the gutter, just in time for a bike race of Tour De France proportions to go speeding by...
"Ooh, la, la!"
When asked to make a detour by a nice policeman, always ask "Quel est le dirigeant de probleme?" because rather than be shooed off the road by the Gendarmes, you may prefer to sit it out and wait for the mob to pass.
Inspired by this mighty display of sporting prowess, the Curious Man and his Nice Wife hire some bikes at the town of Tonnerre, for a quick ride along the Burgundy canal.
And with his scintillating French conversation skills, the Curious Man will even make some friends along the way..
